Chak De

I happened to see Chak De India yesterday again. It really has lots of value adding lessons on team work, leadership, project work, storming, norming, forming, performing etc.

And there are many more such lessons to take away...

mChek

Ahhh... I have been facing a bit too much trouble with this mChek. I really don't understand how or why they are not making things easy.

  • First of all, the SIM is not getting the mChek menu items to my mobile, after activation.
  • The customer care execs are of no help. They really are worse.
  • Then, I went to the internet to recharge directly.
  • I have no idea to which mobile my credit card is already locked into. I tried to delete all the previous accounts on which my credit card would have been used.
  • Then I tried my debit card & the response is, to use a card given by an Indian bank...Totally ridiculous.
  • Then, I went ahead with another credit card & before I could completely understand if the transaction is complete or not, the recharge went thru. Got no idea, how things are said to be made customer friendly & yet, they are so bad.

Traffic

I think yesterday was the worst rainfall in Hyderabad for this season & everyone around me accepts that one of the worst traffic jams also happened yesterday. For crossing 3 KMs, it took one of my friend around 2 hours.

No police to regulate & the longest & the busiest routes which office goers take are all stopped, stranded from Miyapur to Begumpet crossing the center.

No Ball Row

Did you see "Times Now" channel on this No-Ball row, yesterday? I think that single sentence/event/incident, something like "Hey remember, if he hits the ball, he'll get a run" before Sehwag taking the batting position was shown around 25 times every 15 minutes or so.

Crazy enough, to build masala on:)

Car Jacking

WARNING FROM POLICE

THIS APPLIES TO BOTH WOMEN AND MEN

BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE.

NEW WAY TO DO CAR-JACKINGS.

Heads up everyone! Please keep this circulating. You walk across the car park, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and put it into Reverse.

When you look into the rear-view mirror to back out of your space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear screen. So you stop, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is), because it is obstructing your view. Then when you reach the back of your car, is when the car-jackers appear out of nowhere. They jump in and take off. They practically run you over as they speed off.

And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car. So now the car-jacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

If you see a piece of paper stuck to the back window, lock your doors and just drive away. Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this e-mail. I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women. A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.

I think I've already mentioned many times in my blog about the choices we make, and today its a coincidence that on Independence day, that I was reading thru', 'Freedom to Choose' from 'The 8th Habit'.

Anyways, here are few suggestions from the author about how to work on the 4 intelligences we carry
  • Emotional intelligence - Assume that whatever you think about others can be heard by them. Now live
  • Physical Intelligence - Assume that you have got heart attack. Now live
  • Mental Intelligence - Assume that your half professional life is 2 years. Now live
  • Spiritual Intelligence - Assume you have one on one about your life performance with your boss, the Creator every quarter. Now live.

Happy Independence Day

Movies

Now a days, in Tamil, there are lots of movies that are village based & very low productions with unknown artists handling the show. In fact, the movies are making good business & they are becoming big hit because Tamil audience admire the real talents.

Take the case of Peepli Live from Hindi. If Aamir Khan is not there inside this movie, no one would have even known about this & I don't think this movie would've got distributors, theatres, & have run for a day or so...

The day I was dragged

Once in a while, some events from history do haunt... Well, lessons learnt to be careful & make things better forever in your life :)

Today I was thinking about a day when I was trying to board a running bus & my leg didn't help me to get it pulled onto the stairs. So, I was dragged on the road for couple of moments - pants torn, scratches on my knee & fingers:)

Doctors

Recently, I've been visiting doctors for various reasons. I have seen both the sides of a doc. One Mr Ram who does treatment on trial & error & has been trying to reduce his commercial mindset by spending some additional moments with the patients to address their needs.

At the other end, I see Mrs Naga, who just by looking at the patient is confident about the disease & starts the right set of medications right away. She asks patients to do various tests just to back her up with proof. And she goes an extra step in taking the privilege of personally scolding the patients of not taking care & how to properly address the sickness & disease...

Car Colors

My friend Vijay has proposed a new design for car colors. There are these synthetic stickers which can be pasted on top of a car & they are great enough that they hold on the car for possibly an year. Then, year after year, you can change the sticker & hence, the color too.

Whenever I'm with him, there will be at least one topic discussion on cars, brands & stuffs. Very passionate! He feels why should car have one single color all over. Why can't they be vivid, jazzy etc?

Online Library

Do you know of any good online library where I can just order book, it gets delivered to my house & whenever I'm done with the book, I can just courier the same back?

Or best case, is like someone walks to your hose delivers the book & when you need, they walk back & collect the book from your house again. Is this a new business model?

What land?

Another good question...

There's a land where there's mummies and daddies but no babies. Books but no libraries. Mirrors but no reflections. Kittens but no cats. Cattle but no cows. Lollipops but no candy and trees but no forests. It's the land of what?

Ans - Land of double letters...

Bad decisions

I think, this is one of the worst decisions done by this central congress government - Caste Based Census. That is not making India progress anywhere. It is more deteriorating & degrading.

Or can that be used for betterment of people on humanitarian basis & getting rid of some reservations? I doubt!

Super Bug

Not to do with softwares! So, what really is this superbug which is or is not originating from India/Pakistan?

Toughest Problem

Well, one toughest Math problem has been solved by an Indian Origin. Is that true? Ain't that so cool?

Life Cycle Backwards

  • You should start out dead and get it out of the way. Then, you wake up in an old age home feeling better every day.
  • You get kicked out for being too healthy; go and collect your pension, and then when you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day.
  • You work 40 years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement.
  • You drink alcohol, you party, you're generally promiscuous and you get ready for High School.
  • You go to primary school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a baby, and then...
  • You spend your last nine months floating peacefully in luxury, in spa-like conditions; central heating, room service on tap, larger quarters every day, and then, you finish off as an orgasm.

HR

One day while walking down the street a highly successful Human Resources Manager was tragically hit by a bus and she died. Her soul arrived up in heaven where she was met at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter himself.

"Welcome to Heaven," said St. Peter. "Before you get settled in though, it seems we have a problem. You see, strangely enough, we've never once had a Human Resources Manager make it this far and we're not really sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," said the woman.

"Well, I'd like to, but I have higher orders. What we're going to do is let you have a day in Hell and a day in Heaven and then you can choose whichever one you want to spend an eternity in."

"Actually, I think I've made up my mind, I prefer to stay in Heaven", said the woman

"Sorry, we have rules..."

And with that St. Peter put the executive in an elevator and it went down-down-down to hell.

The doors opened and she found herself stepping out onto the putting green of a beautiful golf course. In the distance was a country club and standing in front of her were all her friends - fellow executives that she had worked with and they were well dressed in evening gowns and cheering for her. They ran up and kissed her on both cheeks and they talked about old times. They played an excellent round of golf and at night went to the country club where she enjoyed an excellent steak and lobster dinner.

She met the Devil who was actually a really nice guy (kind of cute) and she had a great time telling jokes and dancing. She was having such a good time that before she knew it, it was time to leave. Everybody shook her hand and waved goodbye as she got on the elevator.

The elevator went up-up-up and opened back up at the Pearly Gates and found St. Peter waiting for her.

"Now it's time to spend a day in heaven," he said. So she spent the next 24 hours lounging around on clouds and playing the harp and singing. She had great time and before she knew it her 24 hours were up and St. Peter came and got her.

"So, you've spent a day in hell and you've spent a day in heaven. Now you must choose your eternity,"

The woman paused for a second and then replied, "Well, I never thought I'd say this, I mean, Heaven has been really great and all, but I think I had a better time in Hell."

So St. Peter escorted her to the elevator and again she went down-down-down back to Hell.

When the doors of the elevator opened she found herself standing in a desolate wasteland covered in garbage and filth. She saw her friends were dressed in rags and were picking up the garbage and putting it in sacks.

The Devil came up to her and put his arm around her.

"I don't understand," stammered the woman, "yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and a country club and we ate lobster and we danced and had a great time. Now all there is a wasteland of garbage and all my friends look miserable."

The Devil looked at her smiled and told...

Great People

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.” - Mark Twain
Bonus: Very few people have the abnormal fear of marriage, they are Gamophobe.

The bill that got passed today for WhistleBlowers, is really a good one, a step towards good & progress.

Greatest Students

If you read & learn something, you teach others the same. Then, you'll become the greatest student & teacher. - From The 8th Habit.

Where to Make the Effort?

A giant ship engine failed. The ship's owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fix the engine.

Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was young. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.

Two of the ship's owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He care fully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed!

A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars.

"What?!" the owners exclaimed. "He hardly did anything!"

So they wrote the old man a note saying, "Please send us an itemized bill."

The man sent a bill that read:

Tapping with a hammer...... ......... ........ $ 2.00
Knowing where to tap.......... ......... ...... $ 9, 998.00

Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort makes all the difference!

Reporting

This puzzle is a good one...

  • At the height of the Cold War, a U.S. racing car easily beat a Russian car in a two-car race. How did the Russian newspapers truthfully report this in order to make it look as though the Russian car had outdone the American car?
  • The Russian newspaper reported (correctly) that the American car came in next to last while the Russian car came in second.

The path

Well, today, somewhere I read that the path you are going to take in your life is already written. It's just that we are putting efforts & trying to make a decision to go thru' that path which is already laid out for you.

You feel so challenged about the choice & decision which you took & the way you are travelling the path.
So, relax a bit & make things as smooth as possible because when things are not right, it is the path which you are destined to take so that you learn & make better choices & decisions for the next path ready for you.

Today

Today, I want to be
  • A better human being than ...
  • Healthier than...
  • More positive than...
  • Thinking of those small good moments of ...

Children

Flu

I was in a hospital today morning. I could see almost everyone wearing the face mask. There were days when there was too much of media hype about Swine Flu when the 1st related death happened in Pune & even during those days, I didn't see so much of masks around me in a hospital or other places, but today it seemed like an emergency around & felt like better, I should also wear a mask...

Mantra Box

In my house, there is a small white color metal box which is always singing in a very low volume. In fact really a good one because it does chant different, I think around 36, Hindu Matras non-stop. Each mantra is repeated 4 times & it moves on to the next one... A good one!

Baba Sehgal

I hope, I spelled his name correctly. But truly, his voice, his passion, his emotional touch to every single word he utters is just superb. His combo with DSP in Tamil song 'Kaadhal Vandaale' in Movie Singam is just cool 'n awesome....

Lesser H1B's?

Democratic Party senators Chuck Schumer and Claire McCaskill moved the Bill in the US Senate on Thursday (Friday morning, India time). “A handful of foreign-controlled companies that operate in the US—such as Wipro, Tata, Infosys and Satyam—rely on H-1B and L visas to import foreign workers to the US,” said McCaskill in a statement on her website. “The Senate Democrats’ border security proposal would increase the visa fees paid by these companies by roughly $2,000 per visa application.”
News Article - So, for sure even companies which consider sponsoring H1B will take a back step & reconsider the additional expense of 2000 bucks. For people who sponsor their own H1B's using consultants will have their troubles of paying 1 lac more. I guess, companies hereafter will themselves ask their employees to bear some cost of the H1B visa processing fee before they get to an agreement of even sending to US

Rules!

If 92 crores of amount is being carried over, then the rules better be bent, that too the timing rules of RBI. Would RBI pay if the money goes in the wrong hands? Check this news article!

Success

“If A is success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut.” - Einstein
Bonus: There are some people who have abnormal love for one kind of food, or highly seasoned food, They are Opsomaniac.

Indian Politics

When I read through such news like the sting conducted by IBN-Cobra, I feel disgusting about the way India is getting spoilt by such corrupt politicians. No value for public & their votes. It's all about how to get into politics, get the power & use the same for personal benefits.

Soon enough, I think all these corrupt politicians will sell the whole country & eventually, India will become more like Afghan.

Blood for Community

Today when I was driving to office, I saw a vehicle ahead of me with a number plate on which I could see blood stains & in fact something was written on it.

Well, the AP in the number plate was replaced with TG for Telangana with blood. Crazy enough (politics?)!

Power of Love

“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” - Jimi Hendrix
Bonus: There are some people who have the fear of night or darkness, they are Noctiphobe.

Sugar

I heard from one of my friends that sugar is a great energy rejuvenate item. This friend of mine lost both his father & mother within a span of seven days. The amount of dejection & frustration which he underwent at those days were unmeasurable. But he told me that if you feel so dispirited about things, have some sugar. That is the glucose that will put you back in your positive thought process...
