Regret is a choice

Robin Sharma

Each day life sends you chances to learn, grow & step into your best.... Some opportunities never come again. Regret is a choice.
So, learn from your mistakes & strive never to commit the same mistake again.

How to Think Like a CEO

•Step 1

Develop your self-confidence and be secure in who you are as a person. Control your attitude above all. A successful CEO trains himself (if he's not naturally this way in his personality) to think positively. Running any kind of business has its ups and downs. You must train yourself to stay confident and upbeat. Don't allow your emotions to take you down when you have a difficult day.

•Step 2

Think like a CEO by becoming a planner. Plan each day by asking, "What should we do next and why should we do it?" Decide who is responsible for what task. Put people in place to oversee employees under them. As your company grows, it's important to have a "chain of command."

•Step 3

Watch your words. Think before you speak. Words have power and you set the atmosphere of your work environment by the words you say. Don't make promises you can't keep. Look at the overall picture of your company goals and find out what your projected income, expense and net profit may be.

•Step 4

Respect the differences in those around you. Relate to your employees and your customers by paying attention to their personality bent. Introverts and extroverts don't think the same or act the same. Understand the differences in personalities and encourage teamwork, accountability and mutual respect among employees and management.

•Step 5

Expect quality of yourself, your company and your product or service. Improve continuously by looking for motivational resource materials, new ideas in your profession and better problem-solving techniques. Go beyond vague ideas. Get specific about ways to achieve a particular task or solve a particular problem.

Hot Cash Across Borders

What an official statement the Govt of India is giving for a minister who is travelling across borders with Rs. 8 lakh cash!! Joke..ahnn?

"It was basically because of his ignorance that he was carrying the currency. We felt that the amount - around Rs 8 lakh - is not so excessively high for holidaying with family and paying all the bills. Yes, he should have carried credit cards and other things, but he is not used to having credit cards. So all his requirement he was carrying in cash. It was in his personal capacity, not official since he was travelling with his family on a holiday, " said Lalthara adding that the state government was in touch with the Centre on the matter.

Points - GG2

  • Ensure you have your own symbols which will remind you of your duties & priorities... Ensure you look at these symbols daily so that they become your awareness & habit
  • Be unreasonable so that you can go for challenges & take on the risks
  • Understand everyone has a leader in him (This I truly practice)

Job Survival

I recently received this link on job survival guide in an email... Guess, will help someone.

Chrome agonies

Come on...

- Why doesn't Chrome support complete erasing of all the history information including cache & others when the complete browser is shutdown?
- I just need some way where I can automatically sync the bookmarks between my IE & GC every time I open the browser. Why are we still relying on export & import kind of stuffs? Well, I know that the bookmark sync to the Google account is available, but that doesn't serve my purpose for now...

Share & Spread

You remind yourself of this -
It's better to spread the joy & knowledge to lot more people than have them only with you or share with a limited few.
When you know you can make a difference in the lives of a bigger lot, you strive for the same.

Gratitude...

When I read thru' the Gratitude topic in The Greatness Guide 2, I was thinking about how I used to guide & advise my two friends - 6 yr & 12 yr olds...

I used to tell them, count the number of 'sorry' you say, number of 'thanks' you say & number of 'thanks' you receive. Get the number of sorry to zero and increase the number - both saying thanks & receiving thanks. After all, life is more of give & take:)

Nonsense

Check out this news article on the 6 year old girl being on the Homeland security wanted list. Some comedy show is going on & further to it,

The Thomases were allowed to fly that day, but authorities told them to contact the US Department of Homeland Security to clear up the matter. Now they've received a letter from the government addressed to 6-year-old Alyssa, telling her that nothing in her file will be changed.

Empower

Someone asked me --- What are you doing to ensure that the resources who are working with you are satisfied enough with what they are doing, feel that they are responsible/accountable for what they do?

What I feel is we should empower them to do something which is usually done by the lead/manager. The sole feeling of getting things to closure with quality & perfection, will get people to enjoy & complete the work.
As the leader, you provide all guidance, directions, smooth passage which they can walk thru' and ultimately if any issue comes, we as leader should take responsibility of the same to bring it to closure.

Lessons

  • Everyday is a challenge
  • Is a experience
  • Tomorrow is valuable more than today because you get to see a better you with more experiences & learnings
  • Everyday we have lessons to learn
  • We spend every moment to get our best out & do the max.
  • Mistakes are not something that we want to commit. But they are something to learn from.

Straight Lines

  • y = mx + b
  • m is the slope
  • When it is 2 point line, then m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)
  • Parallel lines - Both have same slope
  • Perpendicular lines - The slopes of these two lines are negative reciprocals something like -1/m and m.

Save Mother Earth!

Below initiative is from my 12 year old friend... Let's do our bit.

We just saw an incident that made us really sad.We are in Banglore right now for our summer vacations. We were playing a game of basket ball ,when something really bad met our eyes.A cow was eating plastic! We were worried about the happenings and the boys who were playing near the cow got scared and phoned the vet and asked him to come immediately. The cow was moaning and groaning terribly. The vet came and did a quick operation and told us that the cow had been food poisoned. Then he made the cow lie down and started giving it liquified oxygen. The vet called us and told that the cow may die or may not,it was in the hands of the Lord.So then we fed it with fruits and vegetables. The cow was taking rest for about a half an hour and got up and started walking after that!!!!! It was a huge relief for us when we saw that moment. So we decided that we will star a club called 'LETS SAVE OUR MOTHER EARTH'.We are going todo the following activities for the club:-
  1. Get a paper bag to buy the products from the shop
  2. make a paper bin to put in the garbage
  3. Use a huge cardboard boxes to put in biodegradable substances,Non biodegradable, and recyclable substances and many other activities.
Please have concern and start saving mother earth.
Any suggetions? Please email them to me and other people.Forward this mail to any one you know cuz this is related to mother earth.
LETS SAVE MOTHER EARTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greatness Guide

Well...I started reading thru' "The Greatness Guide 2".

My first impression is, it sure is a value addition. Short topics which I can sure read whenever I find time on top of the busy schedule. I guess, I can read one topic by the time my system starts. But the words are not thought provoking. They are so casual, like how we would talk short sentences...Wonder, if they are in fact making a mark in me....

For sure, some are good - Like Emirates ad quote - "When was the last time you did something for the first time?":)

What I See

From Robin Sharma

When we go deep into listening to the person we are communicating with, when we allow them to share what they know, we have the opportunity to get behind their eyeballs & learn, grow & evolve into our highest & best...
Stop cribbing about what is not there. Start enjoying what is there, step up to the challenge, create what you need, serve others who are not able to, work as a team, guide others for the group's benefit & deliver... Be the leader!

Mistakes

Mistakes are sure done by every single individual but the person should realize that the mistake is done & should take all possible measures to come out of such mistakes & rectify them ASAP. Procrastination & postponing on such mistakes would end up very costly... Isn't it?

1st School Day

It was just an awesome moment to see my daughter go to school & enjoy her time with other kids, getting new friends, playing, studying & learning new things. Though she didn't cry on her 1st day she did on her 2nd day.

Though I can term it like her struggle in life has officially started, I sincerely feel that she'll enjoy every moment of it.

Rajneeti

Got to see Rajneeti...

First opinion - Crisp dialogs & screenplay, surprise & typical plots, nice background score, expected violence, huge crowd & shouting - typical to Indian politics ... And not boring. Good to watch once.
Ranbir stood to the challenge which the director expected him to do in front of all those experienced artists...

Daily Quotes

On a daily basis, I'm getting some quotes from one of my colleague Srinivas. Those quotes are so good to read that I became a fan of the same. Then I started forwarding to my team & there are quite some people who started admiring the same & more fan club members to add on.

But lately I'm not getting the quotes from Srinivas & just like how I'm wondering what happened, many of my team members too started enquiring about the same.

American Football

After seeing all these World Cup football craze around me, I could seriously say that I'm missing all those American Football days...

Preferences

I could see that my kid is really getting lots of preferences in her clothing patterns & eating styles. She is quite persistent, but understanding but sometimes she is adamant on things... These moments are really enjoyable...

Changes...

Quite a lot of changes are happening in my life & in the way I'm seeing things around me....

Club 99

Club 99 (people who have enough to be happy but are never contented) - is this what made the world to reach to this current stage, in either way (please don’t join this club to figure-out)!!

Once upon a time, there lived a King who, despite his luxurious lifestyle, was neither happy nor content.

One day, the King came upon a servant who was singing happily while he worked. This fascinated the King; why was he, the Supreme Ruler of the Land, unhappy and gloomy, while a lowly servant had so much joy. The King asked the servant, "Why are you so happy?" The man replied, "Your Majesty, I am nothing but a servant, but my family and I don't need too much - just a roof over our heads and warm food to fill our tummies."

The king was not satisfied with that reply. Later in the day, he sought the advice of his most trusted advisor. After hearing the King's woes and the servant's story, the advisor said, "Your Majesty, I believe that the servant has not been made part of the 99 Club."

"The 99 Club? And what exactly is that?" the King inquired.

The advisor replied, "Your Majesty, to truly know what The 99 Club is, place 99 Gold coins in a bag and leave it at this servant's doorstep."

When the servant saw the bag, he took it into his house. When he opened the bag, he let out a great shout of joy... So many gold coins!

He began to count them. After several counts, he was at last convinced that there were 99 coins. He wondered, what could've happened to that last gold coin? Surely, no one would leave 99 coins!"

He looked everywhere he could, but that final coin was elusive. Finally, exhausted, he decided that he was going to have to work harder than ever to earn that gold coin and complete his collection.

From that day, the servant's life was changed. He was overworked, horribly grumpy, and castigated his family for not helping him make that 100th gold coin. He stopped singing while he worked.

Witnessing this drastic transformation, the King was puzzled. When he sought his advisor's help, the advisor said, "Your Majesty, the servant has now officially joined The 99 Club."

He continued, "The 99 Club is a name given to those people who have enough to be happy but are never contented, because they're always yearning and striving for that extra 1 telling to themselves: "Let me get that one final thing and then I will be happy for life."

We can be happy, even with very little in our lives, but the minute we're given something bigger and better, we want even more! We lose our sleep, our happiness, we hurt the people around us; all these as a price for our growing needs and desires. That's what joining The 99 Club is all about."

Happiness keeps you Sweet,

Trials keep you Strong,

Sorrow keeps you Human,

Failure keeps you Humble,

Success keeps you Glowing, but only

Faith & Attitude keeps you Going...”

Passionate

Today I with my wife & kid were in a book store. We were looking some books for our kid & there came a person who just came out of her way to tell us about some of the books. The discussion went on & on in the same place for almost an hour explaining how to bring up kids, how to spend quality time with them & so on & so forth.

Well, the lady was a teacher in KG school & since she is so fond of children that she started her own school, it seems.
There are some people who don't really worry about any thing. It's so not needed for them but they come, teach, preach, guide, help, serve any individual who come in their way & just make sure they spend quality time with others... Nice to have such people around

Leader or Manager?

Reviewer's Accountability: It is easier to criticize.

Once upon a time there was a painter who had just completed his course under disciple hood of a great painter. This young artist decided to assess his skills. He decided to give his best strokes on the canvass. He took 3 days and painted beautiful scenery.
He wanted people's opinion about his caliber and painting skills.

He put his creation at a busy street-crossing. And just down below a board which read-"Gentlemen, I have painted this piece. Since I'm new to this profession I might have committed some mistakes in my strokes etc. Please put a cross wherever you see a mistake."

While he came back in the evening to collect his painting he was completely shattered to see that whole canvass was filled with Xs (crosses) and some people had even written their comments on the painting.

Disheartened and broken completely he ran to his master's place and burst into tears. Sobbing and crying he told his master about what happened and showed the pathetic state of his creation which was filled with crosses and correction remarks.

This young artist was breathing heavily and master heard him saying "I'm useless and if this is what I have learnt to paint I'm not worth becoming a painter. People have rejected me completely. I feel like dying"

Master smiled and suggested "My Son, I will prove that you are a great artist and have learnt a flawless painting." Young disciple couldn't believe it and said "I have lost faith in me and I don't think I am good enough. Don't make false hopes..

"Do as I say without questioning it. It WILL work." Master interrupted him.

Young artist reluctantly agreed and two days later early morning he presented a replica of his earlier painting to his master. Master took that gracefully and smiled.

"Come with me." master said.

They reached the same street-square early morning and displayed the same painting exactly at the same place. Now master took out another board which read -"Gentlemen, I have painted this piece. Since I'm new to this profession I might have committed some mistakes in my strokes etc. I have put a box with colors and brushes just below. Please do a favor. If you see a mistake, kindly pick up the brush and correct it." Master and disciple walked back home.

They both visited the place same evening. Young painter was surprised to see that actually there was not a single correction done so far. Next day again they visited and found painting remained untouched. They say the painting was kept there for a month for no correction came in!

It is easier to criticize, but difficult to improve. If you want to help people improve their behavior it is worth investing your effort in learning how to help people change their behaviors, attitudes and skills. Also, always remember not to get carried away or judge yourself by someone else’s criticism and feel depressed. Take criticism in your stride; consider that which are genuine and implement those which you think is the best to improve you as a person!!
