Privatized...

So, we have a computer that is shared between friends. And ofcourse, we need to have some privacy in that computer too. We need a seperate folder which can't be accessed by anyone else in that system. I mean, this is an ordeal of a simple man's day to day life.

And the solution provider is Microsoft with a software called Private Folder 1.0 available for via MS Genuine Advantage Program. From the software feature perspective, the best thing is even the administrator of the system can't access the folder! And the worst thing is if the folder's owner loses the password, the contents are locked forever. May be, this is going to be part of Vista (added security feature with the hyped up Vista security)!

So, how much is this going to be useful? It sure will be useful enough for anyone who wants to store very personal details, financial details that shouldn't be accessed by anyone else. Just like for any other new product, the worries may be a bit blown up is my guess. The product is available for anyone. That means, things may get stored in this 'private folder' by kids with no access for the adults & elders. Well, if something has to be hidden, then there are other means like Password protected Zip or Rar compression will do it. They don't need to come for 'Private Folder'! What say?

And there is no support from MS. Well, who cares about support all these days. Download, install and try to work. If it works to our advantage, retain. Otherwise, find solutions, use forums and still if it doesn't work, then uninstall:).

This is yet another software & feature and if you need it, use it!
