Socializing...

Have never been full-fledged into a socializing website... until now. Many of my friends used to mention about the same but never cared to take a look.

But it so happened, that one of my friends added my profile in this website as a friend, where I had been a member for quite sometime, but never found a use of it! The site is Orkut! I have seen some bad news articles about this site for past few weeks, like child pornography and yesterday's story on stealing data - all happening around Brazil though! All those bad news get quite a bit of attention because this Orkut has Google's backing!

Inspite of all those stories, I just spent a day in it & I found quite a few of my friends and more friends from my friends' network. Not bad! Am I recommending you to join this & join me as a friend? Not really! This is more like some time pass:). Well, if you are kind of wondering what to do, how to spend your time browsing, may be Orkut will help you find more of your old time buddies, pals & friends.

Moreover, this is like a number game - The count of friends in your network keeps increasing and people feel pride and satisfaction in that:)!

whats so gud about orkut? its just like mailing. emails are better than such dumb groups. blogging is the best. even i am a member of orkut but i never open my account as i hate it. orkut is not a timepass, its the most delightful way of wasting time. blogging is all time great. blogs fascinate me so moch that now even i've started a blog. a blog is utilising time and not wasting as in orkut.

righto...delhi.king...
there are many faltu things like orkut around...say Hi5, Net Fundu...just to name a few....
the worst thing is...u can contact with people in the same friends network...
this is way more limiting that emails...and we dont wantt o make every dog, cat and rat our friends...!!
blogging on the other hand is way more intiutive... like i found a nice generally aware and technical guy named jagan through blogging..!!
so now i know what jagan sees and thinks abt things...but in places like orkut.. nothing is for real.. and i dont want to do any waste talk there...instead.. mailing the good people i know...posting comments on valuuble blogs... is a better way to utilize time..!!
i still dont know how such socializing sites are surviving...

As I said, I'm not too much into all these. & Obviously, u guys r also almost sailing in the same boat.
But remember, MySpace is more than rocking - Murdoch is more than celebrated for his decision to buy off this site. There r more such kind of socializing customers! It is another successful business model...
Well, do u know - All search giants Yahoo, Google & MSN r fighting now to place their names for searching inside MySpace!

yeah! i get it, its useful for ppl like u, who can get in touch with the old pals or classmates. but me and billoo are still in school, so its useless for students as we haven't ever lost a friend. but maybe after 10 years, we might find this thing fascinating, just as jags does.

C... U still didn't get my point.
Am kinda more fascinated by the business model than the actual use of it. If u know what ur customer wants, then u sure can succeed!
For me, Orkut is jzz 1 day experience

ok, so thats ur point. but i'll add on to that when customers are dumb, things like orkut are a hit. why do we need orkut. blogging is the best. for instance, i was searching for a decent blog, for a blog whose writer is not stupid, whose writer posts things that i am interested in. after a long search i came across ur blog. i know u r not dumb coz i can read ur posts, ur view points, and infer that this person has brains. but in orkut, everyone wants to write nice things about them in their profile so we never come to know who is lying. i know that u were just talking about the business tactics of these ppl, but i am just giving my view point on such groups. i am sure many will agree to that and i think u'll too.

exactly delhi.king....
it really isnt a reliable place to make friends...
plus...if u hav lost a freind...why cant u keep in touch with them via IMs and mails....blogs..??
i keep in touch with my hyderabadi friends whom i havent met since more than an year by IMs only...!!
and tommorow if me and delhi.king are separated...we would keep in touch via mails or IMs only....we dont hav faltu time to open orkut and send messages and check them...!!
Stay Connected.(there are nice ways to do so..)

Hmmm... I wud say Orkut is for those lost friends who didn't involve themselves before.
For me, i'm part of like more than 10 yahoo group email list. So, I have a healthy friends community who r always in touch. But, u c, i did find some of my friends who have lost their identity with my friends circle in orkut.
Well, now this set of friends from orkut also happily joined the groups.
