'Nothing' To Your Eyes...

Just by seeing this picture(From PhysicsWeb.Org) in the left, can you guess something? The picture exactly represents the research conclusion by John Pendry, David Smith and David Schurig which is the talk of today (Once again, I got to make sure I acknowledge & credit the persons & sites for the info)! Assume you are standing to the left of the picture, the bright red spot is a light source and the brown circle is a rod. What do you see?

Still guessing? Alright, one more hint! What is the speciality of 007's Ash Martin in the movie 'Die Another Day'? You won't see, even if it stands right in front of you! Invisibility, to be precise! The blue coating around the rod is the 'MetaMaterial' - A Composite material with unusual electromagnetic properties. What the research explains is this MetaMaterial has a Negative Refractive Index - Capacity to bend the light in the opposite direction. As you can see from the picture that the material is bending light so that the waves can go back in the same direction as it was travelling before they hit the rod inside! So, when you are standing to the left of that picture, you won't see the rod...That's cool stuff!

As of now everything is on theory and there is long time to get things 'ready' for our eyes!

is that rod gotta be of steel? most likely! yeah, US is resorting to negotiations. tell me another thing, I saw Bush's speech on a website. He was particularly worried about global warming. huh! big deal! then why did US stay out of Kyoto protocol? answer this. and tell me, do u have an email id on yahoo or gmail. if yes, then gimme that.

We can take all these discussions offline.

hey...
neat stuff...
is that material in anyway...light permeable...coz negative refraction is more or less modified reflection....
speaking of kyoto protocol...US burns the maximum carbon in the world....it contributes to the highest amount of global warming gases...and this is quite valid...as its the most industrialized country..!!
and it wont(not cant) afford to sign the kyoto protocol...as that would mean re-innovating all the industries to meet the standards of the protocol..!!
anyways...i too need ur email id....tell us more abt urself...
my id is pacific64@gmail.com...
Stay Connected..
Billoo..!!

Well, as per my understanding, they are comfortable in making the radio waves bend! But, the light waves fo naked eye - its some time to go. The theories behind how the waves should travel at infinite speed near the rod to make them get back to the same direction - those r cool.
US has been giving too much attention on environment. Al Gore has always been talking about this and his movie - The inconvenient Proof which got released this week end is building up more pressure...
