Fight For Small Box!

Firefox is getting backing from Google. When Firefox is installed, it gives a small box in the right hand top corner of the browser windows which defaults to Google Search Engine.

MS has the alternative to it. IE7 beta has been out (I guess I already wrote about this) and is going full fledged when Vista comes out in Jan 2007. (It seems) IE7 also has a small text box in one corner of the browser window (--Referred) for helping user search. And this defaults to MSN search. So, when 85% of the browser market switches from the previous IE version to IE7, they all have a choice to make, to decide where this small text box leads to. This choice can be set from some menu option. But many customers do go to the default option which is the MSN search. Is this acceptable for other Search biggies? Well, the referred article do give details on these.

Lets just take a step backward and see what many customers have done when this small text box wasn't available in the previous IE versions. Everyone went ahead & installed the Google & Yahoo toolbars which also have their own small text boxes. So, should all the search leaders make a big fuss about this new small text box in IE7? Once again, its MS choice & wish because they are the owner of IE and they can show their preferences. But, at the same time IE shouldn't impose or over ride its end users' choices.

I'm already becoming impatient, to hear one more news of antitrust/monopoly case against MS. How about you?

At the same time Google should also think about the small text box in the corner of FireFox browser. Don't you think so?
