Thai...

Well, made a recent visit to Thai... Here are some pointers.

  • Package really works. Cheaper!
  • But we need to ensure that the package is in fact giving the best deal by checking the flight tickets of various airlines & hotels. Otherwise, we are in loss for sure.
  • Ensure the correct documents are available before travel. Likewise, ensure that you'll have a person whom you can contact & touch base with always so that you get the biggest advantage.
  • Visa - Just walk to the Visa on arrival counter when you get down at the airport, start filling in the form right away. Go to the counter ASAP because queue will pain you. Check for priority queue based on amount or with infants, disabled etc...
  • Mobile - 2 options - Seven Eleven stores - Get a TRUE sim, recharge - Talking to India is 3 bahts per min. The other one is calling card with 2 bahts per minute. In the calling card, call quality & signal is not good. Trade off? But I don't think going with Matrix pre-paid sims from India is a good option, because 35 bahts per minute.
  • Pattaya - Culture is only bars, call girls, every single foreigner is walking with a Thai girl...
  • Lots of Ganesh statues & people just pray so passionately on the roads
  • For sure visit the Elephant show from Pattaya, Coral island, Parachutes, walking under water, beaches, speed boat, water biking... I did couple...
  • Go for Gems gallery... some time to spend...
  • People told about Phuket island. May be some day... Not in this trip.
  • Bangkok - Visit the Buddha temples, do shopping in Indra market...
  • Bangkok - Go for Safari world, good one to see... People mentioned about boat night cruise, but couldn't do it.
  • Toyota Commuter is a real helper. And the people to contact need to be at your help.
  • The Kurma Avatar depiction in Suvarnabhumi airport is a good sight.
  • Go for tent shops & you can ofcourse bargain. Go for souveniers...
  • Heard that all stuffs in Thai are more expensive than India...
  • Better to carry cash...
  • Indian Restaurents are almost all around. But better to carry stuffs with you especially with infants.
  • Complimentary breakfast in the hotels are kind of a boon. Make things simple enough...
  • 12 Noon is checkout time folks... Don't forget
  • TukTuk or Taxi will ofcourse come handy in Bangkok.
  • Use the hotel stuffs in your room unless you don't have a choice.
  • Don't forget the massage... At least sample it out...
