Game of 'Lagaan' - For Baseball Crowd?!

At one end, we have all the complaints from the players that their schedules are straining! They are getting burnt out with the continuous set of games! So! Who cares? Who are supposed to care? Nobody cares! All these happens in & around the game of Cricket.

Lets see! Sehwag the Indian vice captain did make a comment on the hectic schedule the players are undertaking! Well, at the other end BCCI & ICC reveal the complete future schedule for Indian Cricket team. Well, added to that they also confirmed some new games besides the regular schedule and in some new venues!

I too pity on the players. They shouldn't have been lead to an extent when they start complaining. But, the games and the new venues - They sure are a great initiative for the game as a whole. There is this whole continent called America which has been unaware of this game for quite a long time and even today many people don't understand the game. This is like for any Indian who tries to understand American Football for the first time. Americans have the seasonal games like College Football & NFL for Fall, College BasketBall & NBA for Winter & Spring, Baseball, Nascar, Ice Hockey & quite a few of the games which keep them preoccupied. So, where is the time to learn Cricket? There is no TV channel in US which shows cricket. There is no news channel which discusses about the game. So, who thinks about it?

But, there is quite a great crowd of Indians in US. We know how they have been changing the world at present times. We also know Indians are attracted by 2 things - Movies & Cricket. Movies, I mean Tollywood, Bollywood & Kollywood have already been on the roll for the US Indian community. People are producing movies just for the foreign Indian crowd. Movie stars are always on the fly to different countries doing stage performances and so, the movie industry is doing all it can to satify the international Indian crowd. But, what about Cricket? Especially to the US Indian crowd. So, playing cricket in front of US cricket-loving crowd by the international teams is a boon for the watchers.

As it stands now, there will be a game between West Indies and India after the Indian's scheduled tour to West Indies, on US soil by the end of '06. The pitch selected is Fort Lauderdale, Florida - The American Venice. Those are the good news. The bad news is - The stadium is still under construction. The assumption is - There won't be any hurricanes at that time around!:)

Lets keep our fingers crossed! Hopefully, the Americans will get the first feel of Live Cricket with Indians! Wishfully, the American Desis get to see their favorite game with their favorite team live in action!
